saying racist shit, means your racist??/ it’s the act of being a racist??? and defending that gives you idk…… a lack of empathy and your probably racist?

i mean there’s so much shit you could say in that place… you could say you always imagined him as native american and he was just reclaiming a harmful slur????  but instead the lot of fans of the book resort to claiming an inarguable “HE’S WHITE” and in the same breath claiming his racism was a -ok.

just because it’s the 60’s doesn’t mean the act wasn’t racist, it just means there’d be less retaliation for his words in the fucking heart of the south. it’s still racist and offensive and disgusting and the fact his racism is being defended is a notion whoever sent this is riding that casual racism shtick.

but hey, if you want him not to look racist you have two choices; he’s either strongly native american making a joke on the white man (>: ) ) or he’s racist…………….. that’s it that’s all your choices.

It was literally the sixties and if one racist remark made someone racist than there would honestly be no one who wasn’t racist in this world. Stupid sensitive tumblr people Jesus Christ

Well I mean there were a ton of racist comments made in the ‘60’s. Shit people are even worse now. You can’t tell me you’ve never said, “nigga,” guess what, you’re fucking racist.

Bitch what the fuck

that doesn’t make it okay for anyone to say that. If its offensive and you are AWARE that it is offensive, what gives you the right use derogatory words directed at a certain race. Dismissing it by saying your just kidding it really doesn’t matter because insulting anyone is wrong and especially over the Internet because it can be misconstrued as insulting even if it isn’t intended to do so. All I’m trying to say is everyone should respect each other and realize the severity of words and derogatory comments ok thank you

itwasnt-anything:

'People said racist things in the 60s it was the norm'

So… What? Are you trying to say people shouldn’t be offended by it? What is the point of saying that? ‘Yes I know this stereotype and this word is demeaning but that was normal back then so you can’t be upset over it’?

Why are you even opening your mouth you’re not adding anything to the conversation but your own ignorance.

Character Series: Cherry Valance

It’s not just money. Part of it is, but not all. You greasers have a different set of values. You’re more emotional. We’re sophisticated—- cool to the point of not feeling anything. Nothing is real with us. You know, sometimes I’ll catch myself talking to a girl-friend, and realize I don’t mean half of what I’m saying. I don’t really think a beer blast on the river bottom is super-cool, but I’ll rave about one to a girl-friend just to be saying something. I never told anyone that. I think you’re the first person I’ve ever really gotten through to.”
